Successful Heavy Lift Operation in Gabon

On April 28th Navitrans successfully led a heavy lift operation, managing a complex maritime transfer in Port Gentil, Gabon. The project involved two large vessels and demanded precision, expertise, and flawless coordination.

At the center of the operation was the loading of the Micoperi unit, M/V Seminole, onto a massive semi-submersible vessel called the COSCO Xiang Rui Kou. This type of ship can partly sink into the water, allowing another vessel or large structure to float above it before being lifted out of the sea.

The Seminole belongs to the Italian company Micoperi, while the Xiang Rui Kou to COSCO Shipping, a Chinese company. The operation showcased the power of coordinated effort, with teams from different countries working seamlessly toward a shared objective.

The total time for the heavy lift operation was 10 hours and 30 minutes. However the most delicate phase—placing the vessel on the Xiang Rui Kou’s deck— took just 3 hours and 6 minutes.

Throughout the operation, the team maintained a strong focus on safety, precision, and procedural discipline. The operators followed every procedure carefully to prevent accidents and safeguard equipment and crew.

The success of this operation demonstrates Navitrans’ exceptional skill and professionalism in managing complex maritime logistics and port operations.
