Mother and Child Dispensary in Morarano, Madagascar – Monaco Cooperation for Development

Requirement

In 2008, the DCI – Monaco Cooperation for Development, in accordance with a cooperation agreement with the Principality of Monaco, hired ES-KO to build a healthcare infrastructure in Morarano, a rural area located 78 km south of Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo.

The objective of the project was to deliver a fully operational Mother and Child Dispensary in an underserved and remote area, where women and children had extremely limited access to healthcare services.

Solution: 

ES-KO managed every step of the project, from the initial design to the final delivery, taking care of the engineering, construction, and installation of all equipment to ensure everything worked as one cohesive system.

The 360 m² structure, made of bricks and mortar and built using local material, is powered by solar panels in order to guarantee energy autonomy and reduce environmental impact.

The project also included the construction of residential units for medical staff, laundry and sanitation facilities, a water tank, and an incinerator for waste management. Moreover, the equipment supplied, low energy consuming and highly durable, included an ultrasound machine.

From the first plans to the final handover, ES-KO took care of every detail to build a healthcare facility that truly fit the needs of the area. Designed to be self-sufficient and durable, it was built not just to function — but to keep serving the community long into the future.
