Freight transport solutions for a major oil and gas company in Africa

REQUIREMENT
The tower manufactured in USA weighs 75 tons and is 26 meters long; it marks the beginning of the Cabinda refinery foundation in Angola and was followed by three more shipments of complementary materials, one of which required 38 trucks.

SOLUTION
The contract enables an exceptional transportation of a large piece of equipment to the Republic of Congo, a crucial asset for the energy company involved in the project. .
As there is no port in Cabinda, all goods must pass through Pointe-Noire. Navitrans supervised all logistics and customs operations between the port of Pointe-Noire and the construction site in Angola – including port handling, in-transit shipping processes, specific insurance where required, overland transport, organisation of escorts, border crossing and customs import formalities in Angola. The establishment of a contact and the procedures agreed with local authorities, were fundamental to conduct proper road studies and bridge strength analysis and finding an appropriately certified trucking company. Navitrans also set up a point of contact at its headquarters for coordination between the two local entities based in Congo and Angola
