35 Years with the United Nations: Supporting Peacekeeping Missions

For over three decades, ES-KO has stood by United Nations missions, delivering essential services to those working in conflict zones and transitional states
Since 1988, ES-KO has been at the side of the United Nations providing food services, logistics solutions, and operational support in very complex contexts. From the most remote regions in Africa to the Middle East, our goal has always been one: to ensure the safety, efficiency and well-being of those who work for peace.
Acting not just as a supplier, but as a constant trusted presence in the field, we provide peacekeepers with hot meals, clean water, safe facilities, and efficient logistics, so they can focus on protecting civilians and stabilizing territories.
Our journey with the UN began in 1988 with a major contract to support the mission UNTAG in Namibia. UNTAG (United Nations Transition Assistance Group) had the aim of guiding the Namibia’s transition to independence through free and fair elections. During the mission, ES-KO provided food supply, warehousing, and services for 8,000 multinational troops.
This first collaboration with the UN marked the start of a long-term commitment. Since then, ES-KO started acquiring large contracts to support peacekeeping missions expanding their presence in Congo, Haiti, Cyprus, Sudan, Western Sahara, Lebanon and Timor-Leste. In these projects, ES-KO supplies troops daily with food and basic materials, working in synergy with UN personnel in peace camps, but most importantly it provides stability.
The ability to operate in remote environments and emergency conditions consolidated with each contract, confirming the role of ES-KO as a reliable partner even in the most difficult situations.
Now, we are currently involved in operations in South Sudan (UNMISS), Cyprus (UNFICYP), Somalia (UNSOS) and the Golan Heights (UNDOF), providing essential services ranging from restoration to facility management.
In South Sudan, through the UNMISS mission, we ensure the supply of food rations and bottled water to the troops on the field since 2006. During this operation, ES-KO served more than 15,000 peacekeepers. Starting from 2023 we work with UNSOS in Somalia, where we started our operations in just 90 days, offering catering and retail services to more than 21,000 field operators.
In Cyprus, together with UNFICYP, we provide daily food, cleaning and logistical support to UN personnel, maintaining high standards even during health emergencies. In the UNDOF mission, we provide logistical support and essential services to ensure the continued operation of observation and peacekeeping operations in a zone of particular geopolitical sensitivity.
For over three more than three decades we have not only delivered services, we have delivered reassurance. We’ve supported missions through conflicts, humanitarian emergencies and post-conflict reconstruction, from the hot meal that restores strength after hours on duty, to safe drinking water delivered through the dry season, to supplies that reach their destination no matter what.
We are proud to contribute to the success of peace operations by providing essential support to those working for a safer and fairer world. Wherever peacekeepers are deployed, our role remains the same: to be present, to deliver, and to stand behind their mission.
